Plagiarism

Authors should submit only original work that is not plagiarised, and has not been published or being considered elsewhere.  Appropriate softwares may be used by the editorial office to check for similarities of submitted manuscripts with existing literature. Inclusion of fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are unacceptable. Work and/or words from other publications must be appropriately cited or quoted.

Gading Journal for the Social Sciences (GJSS) applies systematic similarity screening and originality checks to submitted manuscripts. This policy covers text similarity, data integrity, figure integrity and publication overlap.

Similarity Screening

All submissions are checked using similarity detection tools (e.g., Turnitin or equivalent) before peer review.

All similarity reports are reviewed manually to confirm relevance and context.

Similarity Reference Levels

The journal uses indicative screening thresholds:

  • Overall similarity: ≤ 20%
  • Single-source similarity: ≤ 5%
  • Exclusions: references, quotations, and standard methodological phrases
